Workforce Development
All Peoples Christian Center is a part of the Vernon- Central Workforce Development Network (VCN) with four other partners. The organization aims to
ensure that at least 75% of its candidates are granted entrance career/ college of their choice. We achieve this by developing
leadership skills, educational pathways and work readiness in young adults of ages 17-25. The All Peoples Christian Center
only accepts 20 candidates per term for this program.
This program benefits candidates in a variety of ways. Firstly, they will learn the basic proficiency
skills of financial literacy and record expungement. Secondly, participants will be taught by case managers how to prepare
themselves for the working world. This includes workshops such as career goal setting, workplace communication and etiquette,
how to interview and create a resume, cover letter and thank you letter as well as how to make use of job search resources.
As a member of VCN, we also liaise with
the Trade Tech education department. They work with us in ensuring that:
- Participants
enrolled (or graduated) in Trade Tech and are a part of our VCN program
will receive any assistance and complete the right classes to develop a career in a high paying field. Trade tech liaisons
guide and assist candidates should they end their term with the program but choose to continue on with Trade Tech.
- Participants will receive the coaching and support needed to enroll in academic programs to complete a HS diploma, GED
and/or career specific training, apprenticeship programs, and other educational programs. Participants will also have their
academic queries answered.
The program is open to those who live in the
Vernon-central area (90011 zip code) and do not have a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must be between the
ages of 17- 25. Candidates with disabilities are welcome if the disability(s) does not hamper their progress in the program.
