Wee Weekend
The Wee Weekends program is a school education preparedness program,
free of charge, for children between the ages of 0 to 5 as well as their parents. There are 3 categories of classes- one for
infants (0-2 years of age) and one for toddlers (2- 3.5 years of age), as well as for preschoolers (3.5-5 years of age). It
takes place only on weekends and is funded by First Five.
Unlike
other education preparing programs for children between the ages of 0-5, we feel that parents should be a part of their child’s
mental and educational development. Some of the activities include singing and reading to children, as well as the development
of their motor skills. 6-month goals are set up for the children to ensure that they make progress while participating. We
also have a library with a large collection of books for children of this age group, which parents can borrow to read to their
children at home.
For the Wee Weekend program, we currently
have 80 child-parent pair spots open. Our class sizes have a maximum capacity of 20 child- adult pairs. We are running 2 classes
for infants and 1 class for the other two groups every week. Children with disabilities are welcome to participate in the
program, with case managers available to cater to their needs. Be sure to sign up ASAP!
